Labna - Ruta Puuc

General Information:


Its name means “Old House” and is located in the region of the “lomeríos” or “uitzes”. In Labná we can find basic exemples of what it was the great classic cultural developement of the Puuc. It is distiguished most of all by its arc and other magnificent architectural structures of the Puuc style such as El Palacio and El Mirador, which are connected by a sacbé. El Mirador is a temple built over a huge stone platform. The residential palace has several levels where we can observe a decoration with geometric and symbolic elements. El Arco de Labná is a feat of the mayan decorative architecture, its west side presents several entrances to small sanctuaries, it is beleived that the arch served as way between two sets of monuments. Without a doubt, Labná was ceremonial center of the mayan civilization.

Located at 122 Km from Mérida, through the Highway 261, Santa Elena-Oxkutzcab.
