This name comes from Uxmal that means built three times, allegedly making reference to its age and its different construction periods. Uxmal turned into the dominant city of the region and excelled as a religious, political, economical and cultural center of the nothern maya zone and was the most important political capital of the southwest of the Yucatán Península. It was a walled city that had beatiful buidings decorated with mosaics, with PUUC style in its architecture which is the most important in the zone, but we can also find other several styles such as chines, tolteca and some Mexica and Olmeca characteristics with teotihuacan features in some masks that represent the God Chaac.
