This is probably the biggest and most imprtant site of the south of Quintana Roo. Its name Dizibanché means “Structures over Wood” making honor to the wooden lintels with calendar inscriptions that were found. One of which is preserved in perfect conditions to date in one of the buildings of this site, which has an extension of 40 square Kms, and where we can find a great variety of architectonic sets that allow us to appreciate the great monumentality and construction quality of that period. In this prehispanic site we can find various temples, “Lintels Temples”, “Owl Temple”, “The Temple of the Captives”, “The Temple of the Tucans”, “Xibalba Square”, “Gann Square”, “Kinichná’s Acropolis”.

Located at 81 Kms from Chetumal, taking the Highway 186 direction to Morocoy, Chetumal-Escárcega.
History:
Probably founded towards 200 B.C. with a sociopolitical rupture and desintegration after 1200 A.C.
